My mother was a woman of her word, which had a profound influence on me.

When she was told she had cancer and only 6 months to live, I caught her at the window admonishing God that, “I’ll decide when to die… not you. And I’ll leave when my children are all grown and safely leave the nest of their own free will.”

And that’s exactly what she did.

So when she told me, “Trevor, look the world in the eye and you can be anything you want to be,” I believed her.
