The Power of Doing Nothing: The First of Three Simple Steps to “Success With Balance”

inline_933_ hope that no matter the state, country, or dimension you are currently residing in that this post finds you well.As you know, when I was a child I was heavily bullied and I found refuge in the leather-bound, musty-smelling halls of the library.I found that the personality types that decide to walk the path of the bully very rarely find that path leads through the doors of a library – which was great luck for me.While enjoying my brief time away from being verbally and physically assaulted, my favorite things to read were biographies – it was within those biographies that I found the tools and techniques I would end up using for the rest of my life.My book Three Simple Steps is a distillation of those hours spent reading about explorers, business people, stars, and world changers. A distillation of the tools, techniques, and patterns that were common in the lives of the men and women I was reading about.It is not a comprehensive list – it is a minimum effective dose.The Three Simple Steps are the bare minimum that someone should start implementing in their lives to start seeing rapid forward progress, and to start pulling themselves free of their quicksand.The video today covers the first of those Three Simple Steps.Daily Meditation – or as I call it “Taking Quiet Time.”I very specifically choose to call it that because the word “Meditation” has been dogmatized and overly mystified throughout the years.We’ve all seen images of people sitting cross-legged, surrounded by candles and incense, and chanting some sort of ancient mantra.But the truth is, you don’t need any of that to meditate. All you need is a quiet space, a few minutes of your time, and a willingness to focus on your breath.(And even that last part is optional…) Meditation is simply the act of being present, in the moment, letting go of distracting thoughts, and giving life the space it needs to commune with you.It’s about learning to observe your thoughts and emotions without getting caught up in them.
